The MPY-RS2 is our fastest and most sensitive detector. The standard version has an electronic 3dB cut-off frequency at 8kHz and enables the direct measurement of signals up to 100 kHz. Like all pyroelectric detectors it is especially suited for measurements in the long-wave infrared (LWIR) and THz range. The increased performance compared to the MPY-RS detector results from the combination of new high performance pyroelectric detectors with improved high end electronics.
The optical bandwidth of the detector element is extremely wide, so that it can be used as a terahertz detector and infrared detector but also in the visible and UV range. The specific applicability is only limited by the choice of the optical window. Different windows with different transmission bandwidths are available.
The signal output via SMA socket is adapted for lock-in amplifiers as well as for data acquisition cards and oscilloscopes. An adapter from SMA to BNC is included.
The detector is equipped with a low-noise external power supply (included in delivery) which allows continuous measurements as compared with the battery operation of the MPY-01.
Its compact design allows a space-saving installation in optical setups - all operating elements are easily accessible from above.
The sensitive detector element is protected by a screw-on cap. Here, the use of an SM05 thread ensures compatibility with conventional optical components (e.g. filters) from Thorlabs.
Examples of use and instructions for integration into an existing measuring system can be found on this website under Tutorials.
